On September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer (BUS ’93)
boarded United Airlines Flight 93 for what was supposed to be a one-day business trip to California. However, that flight was one of the planes hijacked as part of the terrorist attacks carried out on that fateful day. In the midst of unimaginable chaos and leaning on his deep faith, Beamer, an account manager for Oracle and committed family man, was one of the passengers who stormed the cockpit to regain control of the aircraft. His final words heard over the Airfone were, “Are you guys ready? Okay. Let’s roll.”
To honor Beamer on the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, fellow DePaul alumnus Nicholas Hahn III (LAS ’11) created the Todd M. Beamer Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship will provide recognition and financial assistance to students enrolled in the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business pursuing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing.
to watch Mr. Hahn explain, in his own words, what moved him to create this scholarship.
